HERS RATING
A HERS Rating (Home Energy Rating System) is performed by a qualified rater, certified with the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). The HERS Rating System has two basic ratings, the Projected Rating and the Confirmed Rating.
Projected Rating: The Projected Rating process begins at the pre-construction or blueprint stage of building. The rater reviews the plans to ascertain how the construction of the components of the home will rate on the National HERS Scale thru the use of REMRATE Software. This patented software will evaluate and confirm if the home is in compliance. This step helps the builder and verifier to recognize any areas that do not fully meet the International Energy Code or standards.
Confirmed Rating: The Confirmed Rating involves at least one on-site inspection by a certified Rater, to review, identify energy saving characteristics, confirm insulation levels, window efficiency, wall -to -window ratios, heating and cooling system efficiency, water-heating system efficiency, solar orientation of the home and completion of the performance testing.
Homes that are rated 50% better than code may qualify for Tax Rebate Incentives, (Please consult with you Accountant) The HERS Rating System can also qualify your project for the National Energy Efficient Mortgages and Energy Improvement Mortgages. Please contact our offices for more detail.
