Equine Thermography

Thermal Imaging is a non-invasive technique used to detect heat and inflammation in the soft tissues of the horse. This technology provides an immediate pictorial image of the horses' body temperature. Temperature signatures can identify temperature changes on the surface of the horses body of less than 0.5 degrees. An injury will emit heat that radiates to the surface of the skin, producing a temperature difference easily detected by thermal imaging.

Thermography is a valuable tool to assist your veterinarian in treating and restoring your horse to health.

Saddle Fit

Your horse's body develops and changes through training, conditioning and time.  It is important to reevaluate you horse often and check how your saddle is fitting.

Saddle fit is based on several points:

Saddle position on your horse's back
     Is the seat level?
     Pommel to Cantle Relationship
     Clearance under the Pommel
     Panel Pressure
     Gullet Clearance
     Length of Saddle
     Horse's response to the saddle.

An ill fitting saddle will pinch the horses back and will cause reduced circulation over time in that area. A correctly fitting saddle should have even bearing on the horse's back. Flocking, tree and seat construction are usually at the root of an ill fitting saddle issues.
